Cecile Welten, born in 1958 in the Netherlands, is a self-taught artist specializing in figurative watercolor painting. She began her artistic journey in 2018, transitioning from her medical career. Drawing from her keen observations of people, their moods, and expressions, she weaves their narratives into her watercolor paintings.
Cecile is enthralled by the magic of watercolor, a medium that is both living and transparent. Today, she often works on alternative substrates, such as panels and mineral paper, allowing her creations to be displayed without glass.
Recognized as a master of realism, she is a signature member of Women in Watercolor, a member of the Aligator Watercolor Community, and a charter member of the North American Watercolor Society and IWS Holland.
Cecile lives in the Netherlands with her husband and their three children.
