Cecile Welten (1958, the Netherlands) is a completely self-taught figurative watercolor painter who first started painting in 2018 at the end of her medical career. Being used to observe people, their moods, expressions, she strives to incorporate their narratives in her paintings.
She chose watercolor as the magic of this living, clean and transparent medium totally captivated her. Inspired by the work of Ali Cavanaugh she mainly paints on alternative substrates like panels and stonepaper.
She and her husband have 3 children and live in the Netherlands.
